AOTU's Artist-in-Residence Program invites international artists, curators, filmmakers, designers, architects, dancers, musicians and theorists to experiment and explore different issues and themes in the context of contemporary art.

    • Single room and private studio

    • Shared kitchen

    • Guide to exploring the Beijing art scene

    • Work presentations, workshops, and solo exhibition opportunities

    • Open studios and artist talks

    • Individual: 12,000 CNY per month

    • AOTU will gladly provide letter of acceptance for the grants / funding applications process undertaken personally by the artists.

  • 3 to 12 months

  • Artists and curators interested in contemporary painting, photography, sculpture, installation, multimedia, video, film, digital art, sound, performance, or interdisciplinary art are welcome. Age and gender are not limited.

    • Interest in the Beijing art scene

    • Contemporary art project

    • Ability to pay fees and living expenses

    • Familiarity with the local community and proficiency in English

  • Submit a one-page application letter, resume, and portfolio (≤2MB) to info@aotuspace.com, indicating the duration of your residency (3-12 months). There is no deadline, so you can apply at any time. Selected applicants will be required to sign an agreement and pay a 10% refundable deposit. Non-Chinese applicants must arrange their own visas; AOTU can issue an invitation letter.
